South Arne Project - Concept and FEED Integrated Management Team

Project Overview

The South Arne field is located in block 5604/29 in the Danish sector and lies in water depths of approximately 60 m.  Hess Denmark ApS is the operator for the current production license, which is due to expire in 2027.

The field was originally developed in three phases.  In Phase I, the initial development consisted of 8 dedicated horizontal producers under pressure depletion with a trial water injector.  Production commenced in 1999.  Secondary recovery via water injection and additional development of the main reservoir were executed in Phase II, adding 4 injectors and 6 producers.  The last 2 wells (1 producer, 1 injector) drilled as part of Phase II were completed in 2007.  The total field well count now totals 19, consisting of 12 producers and 7 water injection wells.  All wells are horizontal with 2.5-3 km reservoir sections.  The cumulative production at 1st January 2009 was 119 MMstb oil, 149 Bscf sales gas and 65 MMbbl produced water.  Cumulative water injection had reached 230 MMbbl.

A Phase III development of the South Arne field is planned, extending the development area to the north of the main field and increasing gross ultimate recovery from the flanks, south and crestal areas.  Two new platforms are planned - the North Platform and the Riser Platform.  The Riser Platform is bridge linked to the existing South Arne Platform with the North Platform located some 2.5 km away towards the North East.  The new platforms are connected by the pipeline and umbilical system comprising 10” Multiphase Production, 8” Water Injection and 6” Gas Lift pipelines and an umbilical containing power and fibre optic cables as well as the chemical injection tubing.
